Interview
WL Gore seems like a great company overall, but I have some issues with the way the interview process unfolded. I applied for a position that I was qualified for, and about a month later I heard back from a recruiter. The recruiter was very nice and professional, and at the end of the 25-30 minute conversation I was invited out to Flagstaff for an on-site interview. A couple days later I was called by the recruiter again and told that in addition to the position I applied for, there were 3 other engineering positions they wanted to consider me for. I found this a bit odd considering I was not at all qualified for these roles, but whatever. At the time I thought it was great and agreed, but that turned out to be a big mistake. The first part of the interview for the position I was actually qualified for went pretty well. I wasn’t perfect in it by any means, but I left it feeling good. The next set of interviews for positions I had no experience with went quite poorly though, as they were asking me in depth technical questions that went beyond the scope of what I’ve studied. After the interview I was given a tour of the city, which was probably the highlight of the trip. About a week later I received a phone call saying that they would not be moving forward with me because I lacked knowledge about some engineering processes, and I’m 99% certain this came from the second interview for positions I wasn’t qualified for and didn’t really want in the first place. Seems a little backwards to shoehorn you into interviews you shouldn’t be in, and then reject you because you obviously aren’t knowledgeable about the subject. To anyone reading this, don’t agree to interview for multiple positions unless you’re very confident that you can handle in depth technical questions about them. You’ll just end up looking incompetent and hurting your chances for the position you actually applied for. All in all I don’t really harbor any ill will towards the company, everyone there was very nice and they seem to have a good company culture. Good luck getting in though.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There were lots of thought provoking questions designed to see your thought process, like putting a medical device in front of you and asking you how you would reverse engineer it.

Interview
The interview process is very smooth and well-structured. Interviewers guide you from topics concerning logistics (e.g. preferred to work) to learning more about your experiences. Prepare to speak very technically about the work that you do and how the outcomes relate to what work you've done.

It was fine, nothing too difficult. Long process, recruiters not great at reaching out to the candidates. They underpay a lot, so be prepared to get a bad offer no matter your experience. Not competitive with other companies.
Fair interview process out of school. Liked how they showed us around the city/area to make us really understand the culture and environment. Long day of interviews and multiple interview pairs.
