Filled out an application several times online. One day my mom was in a local Wawa and heard someone say how to get an interview, so I went in the next day and asked to speak to the manager in charge. She was very nice and said she was looking for 3rd shift employees to hire and that was the best shift for me.
She called me back a few days later and scheduled me for a face to face interview with the GM and ask for my permission to do a background check. I agreed to the background check and scheduled my interview for the following day in the afternoon.
The interview was fairly nice, I showed up early and I was a little nervous, but the GM was very nice and made me feel comfortable. She talked to me about the company, asked me why I wanted to work for Wawa, how many hours I was hoping for, and some more questions.
I was hired on the spot but we had to wait for the background check. The background check took forever and even made me feel like they decided to decline my employment but 3 weeks or so I was called and they were nice and apologized for the long wait.
They asked for me to come in to fill out the rest of the hire paperwork. I was late (it was completely my fault, I misheard the time and I was stuck waiting for my son at his bus stop, so I was a little embarrassed) but I learned that once hired I couldn’t be more than 5 minutes lates so now I know what to do now.
I had to wait about another week for my login credentials to go into the system, and then I received a call from the AGM for my trading schedule which even though I was 3rd shift, I would train during the day so I could train better.
I feel like this is going to be a great opportunity for me and I love Wawa already.
