This was probably the most demeaning “interview” I’ve ever experienced. After applying online (signing up for account, parsing my resume into their proprietary system,) I received a call a few weeks later from a “recruiter for Whirlpool,” who asked me if I could do a video interview within 48 hours. He even followed up with me the next day to find out when exactly I’d be “finished.”
I was sent a link to another website to sign up for, had to resubmit and parse my resume again, and then record and upload a set of video interview questions. It’s one thing to have a conversation with a human, but it’s another to arbitrarily agree to have an interview with what was essentially a two way mirror. I have no problem publicly, but having no audience to react to is unnerving, and will likely weed out any self-aware candidates.
Needless to say, I heard nothing further after spending a few hours doing several takes of each interview question, and following up with my “recruiter.” It was impersonal and made the position infinitely less appealing.
