I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Whole Foods Market (Overland Park, KS) in Jul 2013
Interview
I filled out an online application, talked with the department manager briefly in person, and was hired. The most difficult part of the process was probably the online application. The in-person interview was a breeze and the manager was super friendly. The questions were pretty straight-forward. He asked about my job history, career goals, and previous customer service experiences. They did a background check but we didn't have to do a drug test.
One tip is I've heard it's much, much easier to get an interview for a job in produce or food prep than it is at the front with the registers. Way too many people apply to be a cashier and whatever they tell you, they usually DO NOT share applications with other departments. The most difficult step is getting an interview because a ton of people apply to work at Whole Foods. Most of the time they will start with a group interview, but my manager was in a rush to hire people so they only did one round of 1:1 interviews.

I had an interview that was conducted in a highly professional and well-mannered way. The entire process was smooth and organised, with clear communication and respect for time. I would also like to add that this was one of my first ever interviews and felt very relaxed throughout.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Whole Foods Market (San Antonio, TX) in Jul 2021
Interview
I was interviewed by three people, a manager and then two department heads. They asked me about my availability, my experience, and if I thought I could handle the physicality of the job. I was a little annoyed because by the questions they were asking, it seemed like they were deciding for themselves that I wasn't a good fit. They seemed not pleased that I've had 2 jobs in the last five years, which for retail isn't that much. They asked if I'd be interested in a second interview and I said yes. I then got an email about a week and a half later saying they had tried to contact me and hadn't heard back so they were going with other candidates. Nobody called me or emailed me or contacted me in any way. If they didn't think I was qualified, they could have just said so.
