The interview process felt disorganized and, at times, disrespectful to candidates’ time.
I haven't had the initial recruiter screening call, but afterwards I started receiving emails written as if we had already spoken. The first proper interview was with the Head of Delivery and the Director of Programmes. The Director of Programmes did not attend the meeting, which already gave a strange first impression. Despite that, I actually had a good conversation with the Head of Delivery and felt there was mutual interest and a positive discussion overall.
The next stage required preparing a ~13-slide presentation, which took a significant amount of time and effort. During the presentation interview there were five people present, but the overall engagement level was extremely low. Only one person asked questions, and some of them were highly technical architecture-related topics, even though it had already been clearly explained that they have a dedicated architect responsible for those decisions. Another interviewer asked about something that had literally just been covered moments earlier, which made it obvious they were not paying attention.
The entire exercise felt unnecessary and more like a checkbox process than a genuine evaluation. After the interview I was essentially ghosted, and only received a response after following up myself, saying they just hired someone else. No feedback was provided despite specifically asking for it.
During the first interview, it was also mentioned that the company was reorganising teams internally and moving existing employees into new roles. In hindsight, the process gave me the impression that internal candidates may already have been the primary focus.
Very disappointing candidate experience overall.
