I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Wipro
Interview
Highly unprofessional and misleading.
I was contacted (on a weekend) by a recruiter who had found me on LinkedIn, offering a contract position for initially TD Bank, then Enbridge in Calgary.
I was asked to return an email with my resume, agreeing to be represented by them, which I' assumed was normal.
I took an unscheduled phone all in the evening from someone claiming to be from Wipro Bangalore (phone number was from FL). He asked some basic questions and arranged an interview with the head of Learning Consulting at Wipro (I figured this out once I was on the call with the hiring manager). He did not ask many in depth questions and did not answer deeply.
Wipro offered a starting salary of $150K CAD. The manager indicated he was pleased with my crendtials and that HR would be in touch. HR did not follow up, and did not respond to a follow up email. Searches on Quora and Reddit indicate their MO is offering a high salary upfront with no raises or good management after hiring.
I don't think this is a scam but I do think Wipro's [Indian] management style and hiring practices do no follow any best practices or North American guidelines.
