I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
Asked to do an online quiz, then was asked to immediately go onsite. I thought that was strange, and wanted to make sure it was a good fit before investing all that time, so I asked to do some phone interviews before that, but they denied it. I should have known this was a red flag, but I continued anyways.
First onsite interview was a hiring manager asking me strangely personal questions that were borderline inappropriate. I was hoping it would stay focused on being a software engineer.
After speaking with the hiring manager, I had a technical interview with an engineer. This engineer was pretty rude, and started with a ridiculous puzzle question. The efficient answer required a bit manipulation trick - and trick questions aren't really my strength, so I struggled through it. The interviewer gave 0 clues and was intent on seeing this bit-hacks puzzle question through, so we didn't cover anything else. If you've done a few bit manipulation puzzles before, it's an easy question - I just didn't study the topic thoroughly.
After that interview, they stopped the on-site early and asked me to leave. I was told I would get reimbursed for travel expenses, but I was misled, and they didn't even reimburse for train tickets or Uber rides.
One of the worst, most unprofessional interviews I've ever had. I recommend engineers to not waste their time interviewing here.
