HR reached out to me after I submitted my resume. Hiring manager and I had a good conversation, then they invited me on-site to meet the team at their Chicago HQ. The whole HR process was very opaque and frazzled. I got an email to meet on Tuesday AM on Friday at 7 pm. Well, Okay, its not much time but I made it work. Took a day off work to visit. The on-site team was small (3-4 people) and seemed overqualified for the role, and inadequately prepared with any real questions. Its supposed to be a technical role, but I got no technical questions. The rest was more like a conversation, I wish they had asked me REAL question. The hiring manager was not even scheduled to be on the initial interview (?) which was puzzling. Another NO-NO on their HR process. He talked to me for a bit and when I asked for a follow-up he said "I dont know" (?!) Next day I had a web chat with 2 of the senior guys, both of them awkward, and again, no real questions. Finally, got rejected a week later. I emailed the hiring manager to thank him for his time and provide some feedback, NO response. Ridiculous. I dont care what a "great" tech company you are emphasizing your "values". It's simply indecent to take out someone's time for 2 days and not even respond to a thank you email. Get over yourselves and respect people who take out time out of their day to speak with you.
