      Senior Product Designer Interview

      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Xandr (New York, NY)

      Interview

First I I had a call with HR and then talked with 3 hiring mangers which went well. After about a month I moved on to talk with 6 people on a 5 hour interview. This was the most unorganized interview ever! The 5 hour interview was ridiculous. I had no breaks and nobody seemed to know how the process was supposed to work. I wasn't even given time to ask questions and it was very impersonal. Within the 5 hours I was supposed to have completed a redesign of an Uber Eats feature. First I had to meet with 3 product mangers to build out priorities. I had to focus on 1 of 3 problems, 1 of 3 solutions, and 1 of 3 UX testing question I wanted to know. The next step in the interview was to sketch with a UX designer and to build out a low fidelity wireframe and then a high fidelity wireframe. The last step was to meet with a UX researcher to create a test plan. The UX researcher was the only one who I got a real interview out of. She asked questions and allowed me to ask questions. This test could have been done as a take home assignment and then a walk through of the final product if they were interested. It felt rushed and I didn't get a sense of working with these teams. Good luck to the next person...

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Scenario: Imagine that you recently joined a team focused on making UberEats the go-to platform for ordering meal delivery. Last quarter, the team launched a new feature - the ability for users to create Group Orders. Adoption has been slower than anticipated, and the team has noticed that 30% of group orders never complete the checkout process. Your role is to help identify and remove barriers to adoption and spend. The primary business goal is to drive repeat orders – in theory, groups who order and have a good experience will order again and again. The secondary business goal is to increase the average total dollar amount per order. The tertiary business goal is to increase the number of users on the Uber platform.
