      Marketing Specialist Interview

      Jan 22, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Morrisville, NC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Xylem (Morrisville, NC) in Jul 2023

      Interview

It was supposed to be a 3 + 1 panel round process. Somehow, it turned into 8 + 1 panel. Everyone I spoke with was very pleasant but being asked the same questions by a few people just seemed redundant. When I made it to the final round, they said they would have a decision for me by the end of the week. A few weeks go by and nothing. Decided to follow up and waited 3 more weeks. Only to be answered with a generic rejection email with the custom fields not even filled in. (Insert candidate’s strengths here) types of spaces. That just felt like an insult after a very lengthy process. It was a ridiculous process and I have no idea why they kept adding on more people to the interview series. But they supposedly went with another candidate. The questions were pretty normal for that role. Nothing difficult if you know the job. My advice to management would be to be honest with your interviewees. If the process is going to take 2 months and 9 rounds. Say it from the start. Every time I asked for next steps thinking it was my last interview, another person had their own list of questions. So another one was added. The recruiter could have just said “it could go up to 5 or 7 due to the difficulty of this role”. Telling someone that it would be a 3-4 round process with one of them being a panel and not sticking to it was a huge disappointment. If you can’t decide who would be a good fit after 4 or 5 rounds, it makes it seem like you do not know what you’re looking for. Which is what left a very bad taste in my mouth. Considering I had spent hours just on interviews with your company.
