I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Yelp (New York, NY) in May 2013
Interview
Applied Online and had a simple 15 minute phone conversation about why I want to be with Yelp and why I chose a sales position. Just follow the advice in the email.
As stated from all the other reviews: there is a 3 part sales pitch role play.
1.) Get in touch with the owner of the business you are calling and set up the appointment to speak about Yelp.
Advice: Develop a rapport with the "receptionist" and business "owner". Ask Questions.
2.) Simple....sell yelp to a skeptical business owner.
Advice: Do not accept NO for an answer. This is a sales role and they are trying to break you, don't let them.
3.) Sell a product that you like.
Advice: Think of something that you recently purchased that you absolutely had to have and why you purchased that item compared to others. Again, do not accept NO.
Good luck!
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
