I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2014
Interview
I applied on Yelp's Career section and heard back within 6 hours to set up a phone interview. Phone interview was basic and quick. Why Yelp? What is Yelp to you? How would you sell Yelp to a customer/client? After that, I was offered a interview with 3 managers at the San Francisco, CA location.
Due to traveling, I did a skype interview. First and third interviewers were pleasant and conversational. Second interviewer not so much, she seemed disinterested and didn't really provide feedback. More or less it was a "why didn't you do this, ask that" type of feedback. Not quite sure how that was supposed to help me, but okay.
Each interview entailed a mock phone call. Get past the "gatekeeper" and make an appointment, close the sale, and convince a client that Yelp is better than another form of advertising they chose.

Question 1
Mock phone calls were a bit tricky, but nothing to difficult.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.

Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
