I was called almost immediately after submitting my resume to have a phone interview. That went really well, the interviewer was really friendly and personable—and it ended with an invitation to an in-person interview. The first in-person interview was with the same phone interviewer and it lasted 1.5 hours. He asked really great questions, we had great conversations, and he said he was moving me along to a second in-person interview with his manager. Two weeks later, I had the next interview and this interviewer wasn’t as personable as the first one, but it wasn’t bad. I think it went well, or at least okay...he said I was one of two that had even made it to a second interview. He ended the interview by laying out a timeline for when they wanted to have someone hired for the position and told me he’d be in touch.
Fast forward to a month later—well after the timeline he had set— I hadn’t heard from either interviewer AT ALL. No phone calls, no emails, no offer, no “we chose another candidate”—literally nothing. They dropped off the face of the earth. I called and left a voicemail and they didn’t return my call. I’m writing this 2.5 months later and still haven’t received anything (not that I expect to at this point). HR/Talent Acquisition is the industry I’m in, and it’s common courtesy, after 3 interviews, to let the candidate know where they stand. I was honestly just surprised by it all because of how highly they praised themselves on treating people right and having a great company culture. Hopefully this isn’t a common practice and I just slipped through the cracks with the shuffling of internal positions. Regardless, I guess it was in my best interest not to get the job at this company.
