To apply for The CBH Future Fund, you have to submit a “minimum viable brief”. A minimum viable brief is a 6-page (maximum) document that proposes a product or service based on your research and interactions with people in the real world. The ask is that you spend time researching one of the 20 customer types in the following list The CBH Future Fund -- Prospective Customer List for clues on real-life customer problems that are solvable with a product or service. You’ll outline your research process for discovering & validating the customer problem in a document, including (but not limited) to the following items: Detailed notes from research calls with customers We’re interested in the questions you asked, and the most meaningful quotes from customers that resulted in you learning something. Clearly articulated hypotheses about what the biggest customer problems are Any relevant data and analysis conducted There is no prescription on how much research to do, but we expect real conversations sourced from people outside of your existing network. We want you to build conviction on a particular customer problem (the more specific the better) and then design a solution around that problem. The Interview Process Most roles within our organization have multiple cases - this role only has one case. We realize this is a bit unique; we believe it maps to the role well. If you like this work you’ll love the role: your job is to do the discovery work to find out what we need to do to make markets grow. You have to get out into the world and interact with our customers to make it all happen. Successful submissions will be invited to complete an interview. Similarly to the Recruiting Principles mentioned at the beginning of this document, we do not provide feedback for all submissions. There are three potential outcomes from this case: 1) an interview, 2) feedback on the submission, you make edits to produce a second version which will yield an interview, or 3) a rejection. You’ll have 2 (sometimes flexing up to 3) interviews after the completion of this case prior to being hired for the role. We’ll typically ask for an update to the document at some point in time after one of your interviews to gauge how much of an improvement you can make from our feedback. Thanks and we’re excited to see what you produce!
Board members will ask you whatever they like. They are untrained and unrestrained with anything from what hand do you zip up your pants with to what is your favorite drink or TV show. You will also get some that have a professional background but they will be few and far between. Most of these people are there because they wanted the position and it gives them something to do.
The most difficult part is the "personality test" which asks the same questions in different lighting to throw off the candidates. If you do not score 70 or higher, you will be redlighted and unhireable for a year. For instance.. It will ask on a scale of one to five if you love working with people. Mark 5. It will later flip and ask on a scale of 1-5 how much you prefer to work on your own, and then will ask if you're a team player, etc. It's all about paying attention.
