      Interview

I recently went through the interview process at BP, and it was a mixed experience. The technical coding round was challenging, which is expected for a company of BP's caliber. However, I appreciated the opportunity to showcase my skills. The Managerial round was positive, with the interviewer displaying professionalism and expertise in their role. It was a productive discussion that left me with a favorable impression of the company culture. My frustration arose afterward, during the post-interview phase. Unfortunately, there were communication issues with HR. After the Managerial round, I expected a follow-up or feedback, but I struggled to reach the HR department. It would have been helpful to receive timely updates on my application status. Additionally, it's worth noting that BP seems to have outsourced its HR services to a third-party agency called 'Coforge.' My experience with Coforge was less than satisfactory. Communication was inconsistent, and there seemed to be a lack of coordination between the company and the agency. This further compounded the challenges I faced in the post-interview phase. I believe BP has the potential to provide a great candidate experience, but improvements in communication and transparency during the post-interview phase, especially with the third-party HR agency, are urgently needed. This constructive feedback is intended to help the company enhance its recruitment process for future candidates.

      Interview

The interview began with a brief introduction, but the conversation quickly shifted directly to DSA questions without much follow-up or discussion to ease into the process. I had expected some conversation around my previous experience or technical background, as that’s typically the case in professional interviews. Overall, the process doesn't felt like its tailored for experienced professionals, which made the experience less engaging than I had hoped.

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at bp (Pune) in Sep 2025

      Interview

Third party recruiter reached out to me, initially really good response from both third party and BP recruiter. Interview was scheduled promptly. Interview had 3 stages: 1. Coderpad DSA Test - Code Pair - Medium Difficulty 2. Technical Interview with focus on System Design, Architecture and programming concepts - Medium Difficulty - Interesting Discussion 3. Hiring Manager Interview called WWA - 50% architectural questions, 50% preset questions that HM was reading from the doc. Recruiter had clearly mentioned that it will be more of a team fitment round focusing on just cultural fit etc. First two rounds were really good and had pretty interesting and engaging conversation with the interviewer. Recruiter provided the feedback in a very short time. In the third round, from the very start the interviewer seemed disinterested in knowing me and wanted to grill me and had already came with a decision to reject me. Despite the round being cultural and team fitment, I was grilled on architectural questions, I gave a tough fight and provided all the satisfactory answers. Afterwards, the interviewer just read some team fit and culture fit questions, I answered those questions as well. Later I figured that interviewer likely had personal bias. I wanted to get and give the feedback to the recruiter, but recruiter ghosted me and did not respond when tried to contact them. Overall, it ended up being really pathetic experience. Company leadership should look into this matter and take serious actions against such biased individuals and fix their hiring process.

      Question 1

System Design with FR and NFR already available at the start and added complexity as conversation moved forward. Brain teaser, and really amazing interviewer who kept the conversation engaging
