Why did you apply (I love the environment and want to help!), Why is it important to do this work (because politicians suck and need to hear from their constituents or else they'll just be beholden to corporate interests!), do you have any experience managing people (yes I worked at Starbucks and I was a key holder, blah blah blah) etc.
