How many people do you need to launch the team?
Asked me about product metrics. They insist they are just looking for your "thought process", but the interviewers are inexperienced and thus looking at a check box on the side. My interviewer kept prodding me to cover a very specific metric and didn't care at all about the framework I outlined. The specific metric they finally disclosed would have given a very biased outcome - something they would have known if they had any experience at all. 2 yrs working in 1 company and a PhD that doesn't cover any true business scenarios doesn't qualify you to interview an industry veteran.
When I asked about what to optimized and also try to give a direction, he give me some hint with vague idea. Neverthless, he seems how to solve a high permutation / combination problem, where I try to through some of the ideas to reduce the dimension or go by store wise. The HM seems interests to solve this in real-time, when I asked about can a physical store be re-arrange in real time, got the response like solve in real time, change the physical store in a weeks time, not able to digest what we are solving, nor have any clue what we are trying to solve.

Can you discuss a time when you showed leadership? Tell me about a project you were proud of.
Three focused behavior rounds and three focused tech rounds, which consist of a stats/ml session, a DS case study, and an software design round.
Had an HR round and then a technical round where we talked about projects and then a case study. The issue is that the case study is a tough problem that they are dealing with; that is, something they have a whole team dedicated to and have been thinking about for months to years. Yet you are supposed to solve it in just a few minutes! So it really is not a fair assessment but that's how all tech interviews are today. One thing was the interviewer kept interrupting and didn't let me finish so I just figured he was trying to drive me toward to a set of exploratory questions on the case study. I did answer every question but got turned down.
I received an email with a take-home assessment. The email stated that the assignment will be submitted within 48 hrs of the email received and asked the results to be sent within 2-3 days. The result never comes till 14 days pass. They don't care about giving the feedback until multiple follow up and when I followed up multiple times and they have multiple excuses. It seems like the services-based company interview process for me, is not a start-up. Seems like all the values and discussion happened at the initial stage went into the box after seeing their interview process.
A/B testing and how you validate it.
