      Question 1

Round 1: Techno-Managerial Interview The first round was a techno-managerial discussion focused on my professional background and experiences listed on my resume. The interviewer was attentive and engaged, often asking thoughtful follow-up questions based on my responses. Some of the key topics covered included: Reason for seeking a job change Expectations from the new role Flexibility in working with technologies beyond those listed on my resume Challenges faced during complex projects Instances of failure and how they were handled Design principles I’ve applied and the rationale behind them Overall, it was a conversational and reflective round aimed at assessing both technical depth and mindset.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at dunnhumby (Manchester, England)

      Interview

Initial phone interview which was an informal chat for about 40 minutes. The second stage was a 3.5 hour interview. This feels extensive but it goes quickly and is the final stage of the process. For this role it includes a technical test where you are given an hour to read through a software development problem/scenario and construct your answer. Depending on the type of role, this could be a practical coding test or a whiteboard walk through of your answer. The walk through forms the basis of the main part of the interview. It's an open forum Q&A, typical of a competency based interview but drawing on your answers to the technical test as well. Using this method means you can tailor the interview to show what your strengths are and where you want the interview to go. They were looking for lots of types of people so were flexible on what they were after. Part way through, there is an opportunity to speak to a senior manger and some more questions on background and what makes you good at the job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What tech stack do you have experience with? What's an ideal team structure? What is an ideal SDLC? How do you deal with challenging members of staff? How do you track performance?
