When answering a question about maintaining your focus, talk about any processes you have in place to stay alert as you review other people's words. For example, if you read sentences aloud when assessing grammatical correctness or use a digital tool to check facts, describe these habits.

How to answer: An editor often has to provide constructive feedback to writers and content experts. They need to be able to do so in a way that benefits the other party while maintaining a professional and positive tone. Outline your communication skills and ability to provide feedback in a way that doesn't generate a negative or defensive response.

My interview with the hiring manager and panel went well. The hiring manger informed me I did well on their two written tests. They moved me to the final interview round to meet with the director of the department, which was a difficult experience. During the call with the director, they looked at my resume and declared "you're not a writer," even though I previously worked at a newspaper and included links in my resume to my recent articles that were published in national media outlets. At the end of the call, I was asked what I didn't like about their news center.
