How do you handle conflict? What technology are you most excited about?
Extremely basic questions about management, team management, and my past experience with managing as well as technical roles. They asked me a few specific technical questions around my experience with IaC and explained that their current environment was still very basic when it came to automation and IaC, this is why they were looking to expand these roles at the company and was hiring for a director to manage that. My answer to this question was with some very simple and basic stuff I had done for my last company, and they seemed to be blown away by the level of automation and operational efficiency that I was explaining, despite it being fairly common levels of technology these days. Nothing about their interview questions was challenging and most of it seemed unscripted/haphazard coupled with a sense that none of the interviewers really wanted to be there, but had been told that they had to.
