I attended the automated video interview. It started with introducing myself, then explaining a CGG technology, the physics and mathematics behind it. It was followed by high-school level mathematics and optics questions, like a linear function, mirages, rainbows, etc. Questions about a research project I had done and how it may help CGG. Why interested in this role? Any example of going beyond your duties/ responsibilities to achieve an objective.
High school level math problems
Two identical sound waves travel via different ray paths to a detector. Destructive interference between the two waves is observed at a frequency of 100 Hz. Given the speed of sound in the medium as 1500 m/s can you determine the difference in path length?
tell one interesting thing that you do when you are alone. how you got interested in the company? tell at least one or two of the recent technologies that CGG use
- What are your future goals?
First round: 3 math questions. Second/Final round: 3 math questions more related to Seismic Imaging.
They went in depth regarding the projects i had done
They asked a question about related rates. One of the questions was essentially a recursive algorithm question. One of the questions was a brain teaser about how to complete some task in the shortest number of steps. Overall, the interview felt random, considering that I have a doctorate and they ask me a random Cal 1 question to evaluate my capacity as a researcher.
They ask about your master project.
