Interviewers asked me some basic questions like why I was thinking to switch jobs and why I was interested in Mercari. However, there was a moment when I felt was illegal - they also asked me if I had any histories of having been sick. The reason why I think it was illegal is that being sick or not isn’t totally related to the work in HR. The law says unless it is critical or essential (for example if you’re applying for a blue collar type of work, you might be asked if you have a disability or not), an employer shouldn’t ask such a question. Mercari is a big, well-known company now, but I got turned off by their behavior at the interview!
