You NEED to have lots of availability as a student, otherwise you are screened out fairly easily. There was no interview per-say, however, be prepared to answer some standard questions: why would you like the position, where do you see yourself going in the future, do you meet the merit criteria. Once you reach this point though, you should be fairly set to start work - most people are screened out well before.
