Description The Pantex Plant, located northeast of Amarillo, Texas, helps ensure a safe and effective U.S. nuclear deterrent. Founded in 1942, Pantex is the nation’s primary facility for the final assembly, dismantlement and maintenance of nuclear weapons. Consolidated Nuclear Security manages and operates the site — along with the Y-12 National Security Complex in Tennessee — in support of the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration.
