Pine State Trading distributes tobacco products, food, and beverages to convenience stores throughout New England. Its Pine State Beverage division handles beer and wine sales, and the company also provides paper supplies, foodservice equipment, and general merchandise to more than 4,000 retail customers. The company stocks more than 19,000 products at its five distribution centers (two in Maine and one each in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont). In addition, Pine State Trading provides vending services and supplies coffee for corporate break rooms. The family-owned business was founded in 1940 by Charles Canning.
