Description RWE Clean Energy, a subsidiary of RWE Group, is a top tier renewable energy company in the United States. With more than 15 years in the U.S. renewables business, the company has an outstanding track record in developing, constructing and operating renewable energy facilities.
The 1500-person RWE team in the U.S. is fully committed to forging ahead with the clean energy transition in North America. RWE Clean Energy operates a renewable energy portfolio of about 8 gigawatts (GW) installed capacity of onshore wind, solar, and battery storage, making it the number four renewable energy company in the U.S. and the country’s second largest solar owner and operator, present in the majority of U.S. states.
As part of the RWE Group’s Growing Green strategy to expand globally its green portfolio to more than 65 GW of installed capacity and to invest globally €55 billion in the period from 2024 until 2030, RWE Clean Energy is determined to significantly increase its operating asset base in the U.S. This is backed by a project pipeline of more than 24 GW in onshore wind, solar and battery storage which provides for one of the largest development platforms in the United States.
RWE Clean Energy’s strong position in renewable energy is a result of combining RWE Renewables Americas with Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses, acquired by RWE in March 2023.

The unique combination of both businesses also leads to a perfectly balanced portfolio across onshore wind, solar and batteries. The combined project pipeline of more than 24 GW in onshore wind, solar and batteries provides one of the largest development platforms for renewable energy in the U.S. About 1,400 employees from both companies will form a high-performing team, fully committed to the green energy transition and stepping up RWE’s growth plans in the U.S. in the years to come.

Shaping the future of energy together
This is RWE
We are key drivers of the energy transformation – working to achieve ambitious goals
Our current industrial and service-sector society has many lifelines: data networks, mobility, competitive industries and building infrastructure. The one thing these all have in common is the need for electricity – the key energy of our time. The more digitalisation and electrification progresses, the greater the need for secure, 24/7 supply. Our company faces the huge challenge of meeting the burgeoning demand for power while at the same time mitigating against climate change. RWE produces that much-needed electricity – clean and safe. We are on the largest global players in renewables and currently sitting at #2 in U.S. Solar and #4 in U.S. Solar & Wind. We are investing heavily in the expansion of renewables and storage technologies. With our flexible power plant fleet, we underpin the nation’s security of supply. Our goal is clear: to be carbon-neutral by 2040.
