Mission Our mission is to modernize the waste and recycling industry and accelerate the world’s path to Zero Waste™ by delivering smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable waste solutions powered by technology, data, and human expertise.
We believe waste shouldn’t be “someone else’s problem.” It’s an opportunity—one that we’re committed to tackling through:
Cutting‑edge technology and AI, used to optimize waste operations and increase recycling rates.
Data‑driven strategies that improve efficiency, transparency, and sustainability outcomes for every customer.
A values‑led approach rooted in caring personally about our customers, our people, and the planet.
Everything we do—from product innovation to customer service—is aligned with one core belief: A future where waste becomes a problem of the past is possible, and RoadRunner exists to make it real.
Description RoadRunner Recycling was founded in 2014 with a simple but powerful belief: the commercial waste and recycling system in the United States was broken—outdated, inefficient, and far too expensive for businesses to manage effectively. Our founder saw recycling rates stagnating and even declining, and an industry with almost no reliable data or modern technology to guide improvement. RoadRunner was created to fix that.
Since then, we’ve grown from a bold idea into a 500+ employee national organization, serving businesses of all sizes across all 50 states. Our rapid expansion has been fueled by significant investment—over $149 million—and strategic innovations like the acquisition of Compology, which helped us bring industry‑leading smart waste metering technology into our platform.
Today, RoadRunner is redefining what modern waste and recycling can be. Instead of the traditional hauler model, we use cutting‑edge technology, artificial intelligence, and data‑driven insights to deliver fully managed waste and recycling services that are smarter, more reliable, and more cost‑effective for our customers. Our solutions help organizations reduce waste, increase recycling rates, and accelerate progress toward Zero Waste™ goals. We support industries ranging from retail and hospitality to healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and commercial real estate.
Our mission is simple: To modernize waste and recycling and accelerate the world’s path to Zero Waste™, while delivering exceptional value for our customers and communities.
We believe waste shouldn’t be “someone else’s problem”—it’s an opportunity to build a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable future. That belief drives everything we do, from product innovation to customer partnerships to the culture we create for our team.
Whether through our AI‑enhanced recycling strategies, our sustainability‑focused service model, or our nationally recognized workplace culture, we’re building a company where people who care about impact, innovation, and the planet can do the best work of their careers.

Our story isn’t just about growth; it’s about the measurable impact we’ve made on the planet and our customers. Since 2014, RoadRunner has evolved from a startup with a mission into a national leader in managed waste services.
Through strategic innovations—like bringing AI and smart metering into the waste stream—we’ve helped businesses across every sector, from healthcare to logistics, turn their sustainability goals into reality. Our $149M+ in funding has allowed us to scale, but our culture of innovation is what keeps us moving forward.
We believe that the path to Zero Waste™ requires bold ideas and better data. That’s the story we’re still writing today.
