ABOUT US
Founded in 1958 by J.E. Hancock in Lubbock, Texas, Yellowhouse Machinery began as the first John Deere construction equipment dealership west of the Mississippi at a time when most John Deere dealerships combined agriculture and construction offerings. Hancock created Yellowhouse to sell Hancock Elevating Scrapers, a product he manufactured. Under the leadership of Morris O. Kerr as general manager, the company quickly gained momentum. In 1960, Hancock sold the business to Kerr and Joe Thompson, marking the start of Yellowhouse’s growth as a leader in construction equipment sales and service.
In 1986, Yellowhouse expanded to the Texas Panhandle, opening a dealership in Amarillo under the direction of Mike Kerr, Morris’s son. In 1991, John Kritser Sr. purchased the dealership, and over the next few decades, the company steadily grew, establishing new locations across Texas, including Abilene, Odessa, San Angelo, and Wichita Falls. A major milestone came in 2011 when Yellowhouse acquired four dealerships in Oklahoma—Tulsa (Sand Springs), Enid, McAlester, and Broken Bow—broadening its reach to now cover 98 counties in Texas and 45 counties in Oklahoma with 11 locations.
Today, Yellowhouse is run by Kritser’s son, John (Bub) Kritser Jr., as President based at the headquarters in Amarillo, Texas. Since 1958, the company has remained a trusted provider of John Deere construction equipment committed to offering an exceptional customer experience. As a family-rooted business with a legacy of leadership, Yellowhouse continues to evolve, staying true to its values while serving the communities that rely on its products and expertise.
