Pros

The pros to this company is that you are paid exactly what you earn. If you work hard, pay attention, and really value your co-workers and customers it will pay off. Upper management hasn't lost touch, at any given time you only have 3-4 people over you in the company. Store manager-Area Manager-Divisional Vice President-Mrs.Magerko-Hardy. All of them know your name, they know what store you work in and what you do for them. This company is 100% sales based so as long as you are selling and doing the right thing and maintaining your accounts you will be treated well and paid fairly. The people at HQ are always there for you and will work with you, they are usually friendly and courteous. This company isn't perfect but with a CEO who believes in us enough to almost bankrupt herself how could we go wrong?

Cons

The hours are long, you have to be ready to work 9-11 hours a day or more in extreme conditions with no heating or cooling, however, they are transparent about this. You have to pass a test to be promoted, and it's difficult to find time to study for it, but they give you 6 months and the tools to learn. Again, they are transparent about this. The one real con that I see is that some high earning sales people are shown preferential treatment in regard to support, sales, and certain company policies. But this is the nature of the industry and anyone who can't reconcile themselves with that is naive and needs to mature a little bit.

Pros

discount on (overpriced) building materials if you don't have a high school or college degree, there are opportunities for you

Cons

Likes to brag about being a "family" company, but really they don't care at all about your family life. Hours are 7am-5pm for every position. Zero flexibility. And you better be on time. Don't even bother asking to work from home. You have to be clean shaven and cover your tattoos. You must wear the logo every day, but you have to buy logod shirts yourself. Pay is below average, especially for the hours, and you won't get an end of year bonus even when the company has record sales years. 401k match is a joke (usually 3% but sometimes it's 0%. You won't know until it's too late). Health coverage is average coverage but expensive. 2 days off for the birth of a child (hurray for being a woman owned family company). Paid holidays include one day for Christmas, one day for New Years, one day for Thanksgiving and one day for the 4th, Labor day and memorial day. So say goodbye to your 2 precious weeks of PTO if you want to spend time with your loved ones for the holidays.
