Pros

Free Lunch and RTO (responsible time off). Which most sheep list as a benefit. Not me. I have common sense. People need to realize you work longer hours and don't leave the office on lunch days. RTO means you have to ASK for time off, instead of just marking it and deducting it in system. People are less inclined to take time off this way. Company spins this as a benefit, when it's something THEY benefit from, not employees.

Cons

Where to begin? (1) Management, or lack there of. 4th CEO in 5 years. Speaks volumes. (2) Company policies and procedures which are rigid and inflexible in the face of common sense. Employees cling to these idiotic policies just to cover their own rear ends. (3) Finances. How do you not pay employees their paychecks, commission checks and pay vendors? Inept financial policies and management. Imagine depending on a check to pay your own personal bills, when the company sends an email THE DAY BEFORE YOU EXPECT IT, to let you know it will be delayed 60 days. The day before. Now imagine they do this not once, but 5x in 4 years. That's complete disrespect and disregard for it's own employees. (4) Morale. None. Non existent. Multiple layoffs over multiple years have every employee on edge at all times. Critical thinking has become a company of sheep and monkeys too afraid to work, that just plod thru the day trying to keep their heads down. (5) Technology. Old. Outdated. Their prime competitor in the industry is far superior to their overpriced product lines. (6) Response time. Whether it's the HR department, sales, customer service or management...sending an email to an Accela employee might as well be just printed and put in a garbage can. Accela employees don't even respond to each other, let alone vendors and prospects. Culture of laziness, ineptitude and blatant disregard of effort. My manager once went three weeks without calling, emailing or contacting me, despite my repeated emails and voicemails. Utter absurdity.

Pros

- Some great, friendly people around to balance out the oppressive, corporate atmosphere. - Good perks in the office (food, snacks, beer, etc.). - Pretty good work/life balance. - Engineering team is talented and the CTO is awesome. - HQ in San Ramon is in a good alternative location than the usual Bay Area tech company locations if you live in the East Bay. - A few of the high-level VP executives are great people and should be the ones to replace the current C-levels. - If you're an old buddy of the CEO, congratulations on the easy job and lack of accountability!

Cons

- No more than 2 - 2.5% annual raises. No bonuses for most employees. - C-level executives really need to be replaced with nicer, more savvy professionals who can focus on operations rather than sales. - Friends of the CEO are appointed to cushy jobs with zero accountability and 2-hour work days. - No working from home (unless you're an aforementioned Friend). - Extremely poor financial and acquisition planning. 30+ people, including excellent performers at HQ, were laid off following the acquisition of small companies of dubious value. - There is a feeling that nobody is safe from layoffs. Some of the best employees I've ever worked with were laid off because of poor financial planning. - The company has almost not made payroll a few times! - Government clients are often difficult to work with and still operating with 90s-era technology and 50s-era bureaucracy. - Focused on short-term gains and an IPO that will never happen.

Pros

Pay attention to the fact that all of these positive reviews have been written on the same few days. An obvious ploy by management to downplay the numerous negative reviews that are far more honest about what you'll experience if you accept an offer from this organization. Unbelievable but not surprising.

Cons

partners have backed out of projects because they haven't been paid, threat of lawsuits from customers, very bad management. If you think a free lunch is going to make up for the negativity of this organization, go for it.
