Pros

You will learn a great deal about the technology, and they have a very cordial social "European" culture. There is some training budget, and travel budget as well. I enjoyed my weekends in Paris and Germany.

Cons

One challenge is getting approval from France on everything, because the experts there are always out on holiday, or at a plant, or at a conference. I could do nothing without their approval. And if your project is late because of it, you will suffer the consequences, not them. Another is the low, low salary range, with no OT pay, and working 7 days a week to keep up the work load. Project managers are always right. Even when they are wrong. And way too arrogant to admit they are wrong. And completely unwilling to hear your side of any story.

Pros

Industry technology leader, high potential for investment in innovation, above average benefits for the industry, good engineering mentoring programs, excellent R&D facilities

Cons

Very political, outdated infrastructure / systems, bureaucracy & processes which are difficult to manage. High attrition in certain business areas. Several managers appear to have been chosen for pedigree over relevant experience & people skills. Managers rotate through positions in 3 years or less leading to short term decision making with shallow focus on P&L and stock price with no consequences for poor results after they have left the position. Line employees disconnected from long-term vision. Poor assimilation of acquired businesses into parent company (diminishing their prior potential). HR department suffers from high turnover and seen to be ignorant or downright dismissive of lower-line employee issues

Pros

Some excellent sales people (what's left from MG)

Cons

Pushing out experience and "can do it right the first time" talent for younger, cheaper, do not know their gasholes from a hole in the ground raw recruits. Move ahead... get paid less, I guess that's the new career opportunity (see conditional rating below) as dictated by what bean counters can measure
