We are saddened to hear of your experience at AFM. We try very hard to be the best company in the world, with a ‘family-like’ work environment. To be the best, we have high expectations for our team and reward our employees that succeed. It is not uncommon for 40%, if not more, of our staff to earn a monthly bonus.
Several years ago, we became part of a Professional Employment Organization (PEO). This allowed us to offer our employees the same benefits as much larger companies, including a full-time Human Resource Department. The full-time Human Resource Department was an outlet for you to describe your feelings and, had this been done, we could have immediately addressed your feelings. Unfortunately, we were never aware of your feelings when you worked at AFM, so we were not able to speak with you about them.
Our PEO has multiple team members in various HR areas, such as Payroll, Benefits, Flexible Spending Accounts, COBRA, Direct deposit, Onboarding, timeclock punches, Employment verification, address change, amongst many others, that our staff can contact by phone and email. All inquiries are acknowledged by our PEO within 24 hours of receipt. In addition, our PEO offers an Employee Assistance Program, which is available 24/7, and people reach out to this service for many different reasons, even for non-work-related inquiries, such as counseling, family relationships, medical situations, mental health, work-life balance, legal and financial situations, home maintenance, amongst many other items.
Annually, we have our employees complete a survey to let us know how we are doing as a company, how our employees feel about working at AFM, our company culture, our management team, items we can improve upon, etc. The responses received over the past few years have been very gratifying and only strengthen year after year.
We truly enjoy spending time together as a company. Over the last six months, we hosted an office picnic, an ‘escape room’ event, a Halloween costume contest, a ‘white elephant’ gift giving party, an annual office holiday party, amongst other events and catered meals. We also contributed to, and participated in, a charity walk for pediatric cancer.
With respect to your statement about technology, we have an on-site IT person and outsource our IT work to a local company as well. All our employees have dual monitors at their work stations and we take all appropriate measures to protect sensitive client information.
As the owner of AFM, I wanted to let you know that I am truly sorry you feel so negatively about your time with us. I wish I could go back in time to do one thing different every single day when you worked at AFM, as maybe the ancillary effects from these different daily activities would have indirectly addressed your negative feelings and overall view of the company. I had no idea you felt the way described within your review and, had I known, I would have made sure you had an open forum to discuss your feelings and, together, worked on an approach to make sure those feelings dissipated, and were replaced with positive feelings as quick as possible.
I truly hope you find the right fit with your current, or next, employer and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
