Pros

Great culture with supportive leadership and a strong, collaborative team environment. The work is meaningful, with plenty of opportunities for growth and development while making a positive impact in the community. Local decision-making allows for faster, more personalized service and empowers employees. Compensation and employee benefits are highly competitive, making the overall experience even more rewarding.

Cons

Limited number of branches in my market, which can be a constraint at times—but not necessarily a con depending on your role. Overall, still a very positive experience.

Politics overtakes the good

Pros

So many people that work here are wonderful, want to do the right thing and deliver excellent service to clients and work well together as a team. But like anywhere, that can depend on the team you're part of and who your leaders and team members are. If you can be sheltered from the cons below, it is typically a great place to work. Benefits are typical and competitive, except time off for exempt colleagues. Pay can be reasonable depending on position and if your manager sees your worth and pushes to ensure you're compensated adequately for your talent and work ethic.

Cons

The politics at the top get in the way of job security, efficiency and doing the right thing. Many executives will not listen to SMEs if it isn't what they want to hear, even if it is not the right thing to do. This truly takes away from the pros of working here. The shift in allowing remote work only to push to get people back in offices where there is no room because locations were downsized is laughable and is reducing engagement and colleagues wanting to stay. Executive management is toxic at times. Long hours, affecting work/life balance. Flexible PTO is only a ploy (cost savings) to not have to pay out colleagues accumulated PTO when they leave. Exempt colleagues no longer get floating holidays, also part of the ploy to not pay out and to make colleagues work more. And new managers have no idea what colleagues had been awarded based on role and/or tenure to decide if what a colleague takes is "reasonable". IT support is subpar. No one is safe here.

DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

PTO and being able to work remotely.

Cons

AB has no issue letting people go and what is even more hilarious - upper management makes the decision. The direct supervisors are not involved/consulted. You would think - when business is slow and people have to be let go - it would be the weakest link. That's why you show up, work hard and do a good job. That is NOT the case. I can say with 100% certainty I was let go based on my pay. I was making too much money, but I paid my dues and worked hard over the years to get to that point. However, AB does not care. They prefer to keep people who do not show up for work and makes mistakes because they are paid less. No sick days and no errors do not matter. It's all about the money. They say people are important, but I've never found that to be true. The CEO is like a used car salesman and the H.R. Dept is terrible. If you want to work for a company that does NOT value it's employes - this is the place for you!
