Pros

This remains one of the tiny handful of places in the world where you can be at the forefront of getting humanity to the stars. In objective terms, this place is awesome. New Shepard is almost out the door. New Glenn is real, is happening, is getting built. Smart, helpful, humble, visionary co-workers. Familiar Amazon perks like dogs in the office, free snacks and drinks, an endless firehose to learn new skills and hone current ones.

Cons

When Bob Smith gave his first all-hands address to all of Blue in his new role as CEO, he started with two words that sent chills down my spine: "We're listening". tl;dr: You can guess by the fact I'm here writing a review on Glassdoor, joined by countless others, what I have concluded about that. This is something Rob Meyerson would have never, ever said. He would have never acknowledged that there was a distinct "we" (i.e. upper management) separate from the "we" that was all of Blue. He would have never bothered to say it at all -- he would have assumed it would have shown from his actions, and that it was his very first, basic responsibility as the leader of his company. All of my pertinent complaints about the state of the company stem from this one phrase.

New changes creating hardships

Pros

Collaborative environment and exciting work. Job never gets old or dull and is actively changing. There is a lot of opportunity within the company, so you aren't stuck in one role or with one program.

Cons

They recently imposed a new rule that you MUST work out of the office, regardless of circumstance, hardship to your family and regardless of distance. My entire team is based out of a different region, not a single team member I work with is at my location but I am forced to come into the office 5 days a week. My daily commute is 3 hours now (1.5 hours to and from work), so my 8 hour work day now is 11 hours. I have a family that relies on me to care for them and now I have to try and figure out how to support their needs and not sacrifice my time as a parent. My job was proposed and accepted as a remote position but due to an office opening, now I am forced to change my whole life. This is causing significant challenges for myself and family but because "badge swiping" will occur, there is nothing that I can do. There are folks who have it worse and and now must travel hours in order to make it to the office. This type of mentality and un-caring for employee's well being is incredibly disappointing and disheartening.

Pros

Work with extremely intelligent team members who are the best of the best. That's it.

Cons

- Old school mentality. Zero progression or forward thinking. - Prides itself on being "inclusive and diverse" when its very, very far from that. Highly concerning that every leader here is a white male. - Employee voices mean NOTHING. We speak on issues and offer solutions but management is unwilling to make any improvements. - No hybrid or flex schedule - Growth + pay raise is near to impossible. - TERRIBLE LEADERSHIP. Not only with CEO + Board, but also department leadership. Overall a disaster, completely out of touch and offer no support. - Work life balance... what's that? - Processes... what's that? - Favoritism is a real thing here. They pick and choose when they want to follow a process or not. - Ambiguity is also, a real thing here. - Actually ask employees to write positive reviews on glassdoor to increase their score. -Don't drink the Kool-Aid. We all do in the beginning but quickly figure out the Kool-Aid is garbage.
