Pros

the pay is fair, but I consider it low for the demands

Cons

Cascades has the ideal cocktail of circumstances to destroy an employee's enthusiasm, motivation and peace. 1st. The workload is more than what a person can handle, They will easily ask you to complete the budget within two weeks, while closing the month, and handling other time sensitive tasks. You will have to do the work with non-functional tools. For example, they will get a new software that hasn't been tested and they know it, but they DO NOT care how much you struggle. In fact, when I dared to say something to my supervisor, he told me that it was expected for me to deliver the results and that nobody really cared what my special circumstances were. 2nd- Cascades does no have effective system and process. It feels as if you are working for the government, where it's hard to find someone who really cares, but un-like the government they place demands on you that create a great deal of anxiety. 3rd lack of appreciation for employees, and lack of leadership at all levels from upper managers to their executive team. Lastly, my intention when I started employment with Cascades was to make it my last job before retirement, but after a year of employment my health was deteriorating due to the stress. I couldn't relax even on weekends, my mind was always active thinking how to handle all the responsibilities and demands placed on me. At times, I felt so overwhelmed that I wanted to cry. If you are planing to work for Cascades in a management position think about it twice. These Canadians are super sensitive and get easily offended, they think we are in the 18th century where employees were treated as slaves.

Pros

The pay scale with new contract is better than the past.

Cons

New management is burning out the employees with unnecessary overtime; they illegally shortened lunch to 20 minutes; morale here is very low. Nobody wants to work here since new plant managers were brought in. Removed employee of the month program. They don't let you leave for lunch. Poor conditions. Health insurance isn't good.

Pros

Cascades has done a nice job of hiring some strong employees that are fun to work with and help achieve goals.

Cons

Leadership from Candiac is a bit too know-it-all and volatile for the good of the company's future and for the employees. And that affects morale all the way throughout the plant.
