      Pros

      One of the best reasons to work at Chef is the people. There is no shortage of people willing to go above and beyond to help you get your work done. The next best reason to work for Chef is the ability to work remote. A fairly large portion of the company works remotely so you don't feel like a satellite.

      Cons

      There is still a bit of turbulence going on from the re-org of the engineering department.

      * Focused on actually being a good place to work. * Care about the effect of the software in the world. * Remote work is awesome!

      * The code base is lacking in good internal APIs * The product org is still catching up to engineering.

      Pros

      Chef is a company with a cultural that, if you take the opportunity, offers you the chance to take your career in the direction that you want. They pay is good and there is plenty of opportunity for both vertical and horizontal movement if you are willing to ask for it.

      Cons

      You have to actively work to maintain your work-life mix. They currently offer unlimited PTO which is a fantastic deal only if you take it.
