Pros

The company culture is great, and the non-management staff is great to work with. Great to work for if you went to Duke

Cons

No room for growth, opportunities are handed out by degree and college you went to, not tenure or skill. Managers are all engineers, most struggle to be good managers They will drop you at the first sign of conflict with said managers.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I’m happy to hear that you appreciate the culture and your colleagues at CoVar—we pride ourselves on having a great team of folks. We strive to be meritocratic and to provide opportunities for growth and development for all CoVariates. Not only is it the right thing to do, as a growing company, it is imperative that we operate as such. We have a bias to promoting from within and encourage folks to step up into leadership positions on projects or technical thrusts. Our goal is provide development and support in both management and technical career tracks through our mentorship and advisor programs. We don’t always get everything right. Feedback like yours can help us identify where we might improve and become better at achieving our aims. We wish you the best of luck and thanks again for your comments.

Pros

CoVar has a really strong team culture, people are smart, collaborative, and seem to genuinely care about the work they’re doing. The projects are interesting, especially if you enjoy working at the intersection of AI/ML and real-world applications. Leadership is approachable, and there’s a lot of trust given to employees to take ownership of their work. It’s also a place where you can wear multiple hats and grow quickly if you’re proactive.

Cons

Processes and structure are still evolving, so things like ownership, communication, and expectations aren’t always as defined as they could be.

Pros

- Talented team with a wide ranging set of expertise - Care deeply about company culture. Lots of fun events throughout the year. - Engaging and interesting work. Always have interesting and challenging problems to work on - Everyone is very accessible including leadership. No egos and "seniority" friction - Ability to have lots of impact and grow due to the smaller company size. More freedom to chart your course and grow in different areas - Everyone gets to own sizeable chunks of projects/tasks irrespective of seniority. Great if you thrive in that setting - Good work life balance and good mentors/advisors at the company

Cons

- Not going to be a good fit if you are looking for a big company vibe or want to just do "X" and be an expert at "X" since the work and projects can vary. - Independence and task ownership expectations can potentially be a con for junior/new hires who are looking for more involved on-the-job training or are not used to being able to work collaboratively but independently
