Pros

Apple Equipment, $100 monthly allowance

Cons

There are N number of cons as to why this company shouldn't be joined. 1. Mental pressure is immense. It is 1000x here, you will loose your mind here coz you will be treated like a machine 2. No streamlined process. 3. They don't care about their employees or clients. Revenue is the only thing Deel cares about. 4. Variable pay is a scam here. It is used to lure candidates to join deel. In reality no one receives the variable pay as the targets sets by Deel is so high that no one can ever meet. In my team of 10-15 people, no one ever meets the targets to receive variable pay. Even if you give your 10X efforts, you will still only reach 60-70% of the variable pay. One must reach 100% targets to receive variable pay which ultimately feels like a scam to me. 5. No proper training, you will be required to churn out cases as soon as you join Deel 6. You will be lost and think as to why did you join this company. 7. Management does not listed to the Managers or even Directors in the company as all they are about is the revenue. 8. To keep your mouth shut, you will be paid $100 monthly in the name of monthly allowance 9. High attrition, people are leaving this company like anything because of the mental pressure.

We welcome any and all feedback, and are thankful for the honest and constructive. You are not wrong. We understand the mental toll and understand we can do more for mental health and wellness. We are working on this for 2024. We do disagree that everything is about revenue and not the customer. To spend time with anyone at leadership at Deel is to feel the drive to deliver a truly global workforce changing product. Yes, we are a business and desire to increase revenue and drive business results for our shareholders (investors and team members), but not at any cost. We believe our product fundamentally changes the way CPOs, CFOs, and their teams can work more productively, efficiently, and compliantly and it takes a lot of energy, excitement, and care to deliver. But we also care about our value of conservative frugality which has allowed us to be profitable for a year (no layoffs, in this economic environment) whilst continuing to add 100 people per month and invest in our team and products and customers.

Pros

Some of the best people that you will ever meet work at Deel. They are the boots-on-the-ground folks who help clients and their employees daily with payroll, insurance, admin, etc. These people have diverse stories and are a pleasure to work with. Working remotely can be nice sometimes...

Cons

The leadership team @ Deel does not care about the employees within the company, their customers, or the employees who are paid/hired through Deel. For a business that sells itself on compliance, there is a total lack of it throughout the employee journey. Deel has a "growth-at-all-costs" mindset and cuts corners at every opportunity. This means that if you work at Deel you will not be trained properly and If your employer is using Deel to hire you, you will run into compliance roadblocks at every step. Insurance will be a mess, taxes won't be handled properly, and when the time comes for your employment to be terminated you will not be treated properly. As a CSM it is almost impossible to do your job well when your directives from leadership change on a weekly basis. You will be asked to tell your clients that they will be paying more one week... only to have to walk it back 2 weeks later. You'll be asked to lie to your clients about our standing with local governments. Don't expect to be promoted. Don't expect to be treated fairly. If you are moved into a higher-level role, you will not get a raise. Youll be told that the experience you're gaining is more valuable. Don't challenge executive leadership. They surround themselves with yes-men and hold personal vendettas against individuals who speak up and advocate for their clients. As seen in previous reviews, this company is truly run by the CEO's father Alex. The main execs (Alex, Dan, Shuo) are inexperienced, immature, and will openly harass you in Slack channels if they think you've done something wrong without even taking time to understand the context. Some leaders have default optimism. These three have default hostility. Expect to work odd hours. If a client wants to speak with you at 10PM you're expected to do it. You are always on call. I would avoid this place at all costs and think carefully before you choose to come here.

Pros

Salary is with market and the talent that Deel brings on is fabulous. Lots of exciting opportunities to be a part of. Benefits are fully paid for (yes- health insurance for the US is paid by the company). Unlimited PTO.

Cons

“Deel Speed” Deel is very VERY focused on growing the revenue faster than any company has ever done in the past. While yay- that’s good and everyone wants the company to succeed, “Deel Speed” is just not a scalable solution. Leadership has such crazy blinders on to the point that their solution for any problem is throw more people at the problem and tell them to work faster in their silos, then just just say that it’s been solved and move on to the next problem. For any company to be set up for continuous and stable growth, problems must be solved with strategy, collaboration, and time. The founders are the voices behind Deel’s solutioning method and echo it daily- “Deel Speed”. What really sucks about working here is that I know that the environment they’ve created is not scalable and not sustainable for the long term. The worst part is that there is no way anyone can convince the founders and leadership that their methods are flawed, as they are extremely stubborn and tell the world that they’re wrong and they’ll be the first ones to actually make this method work. I believe the only way they’ll learn is when Deel eventually gets driven out of the market by their competitors because Deel is still too busy being inefficient. Sure they may have the best in market product for the price, but a product doesn’t make a company. More leads does not equal long term revenue. They’ve grown too fast for their own good. To elaborate on the stubbornness of the culture, If leadership read my message, I guarantee they’d just say something like “well this person is just lazy/incompetent and not cut out for this job, they can’t handle a fast paced environment” and my response would be. “You are correct in that I cannot keep up with your unrealistic daily expectations and band-aid solution logic, nobody can - that’s why all your strategic people keep quitting. If you decided to take a step back, understand and learn from the problems you’re facing, and then prioritize and plan for strategic efforts to permanently fix these problems - then I could be of better service to you” Classic tale of the tortoise and the hare; except the hare is running so fast while only looking at the ground, then runs straight into a tree, and the tortoise just keeps on movin’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you for this review. We in leadership do understand that a long term vision and strategy is critical and we have attempted to share that with you all internally. That said, we have urgent scaling issues to address urgent customer needs that we sometimes have to make a business decision to solve immediately with headcount or solutions that are not our long term solution but rather a solution that allows us to build the long term solution while still meeting the high expectations of our customers. We will find a better way of communicating this internally to ensure perceptions are managed better. I also won't assume that you are not a fit for Deel based on your review without any other information or data about you. I do hope that if you are an active team member that you shared your true perspective in our recent engagement survey as well as you would be expected to actively be working with your manager to solve problems. We have humans on the other end of our products and services so its critical to surface better ideas and solutions to scale. But we will continue to move quickly, that is what start ups do, otherwise our competitive moat is reduced.
