Pros
AMZN RSUs. not so great free lunch, good product
Cons
Not sure where to start but nevertheless - 1. Politics - the senior management Directors and above also aspiring senior managers are all seasoned career politicians who survive on ruining the lives of the worker bees/minions. They absolutely treat these hard working smart minions as canon fodder and often lead them on death march projects. These death march projects are nothing more than ill-conceived whims of a senior career politician who wants to prove a point which has nothing to do with the customer or the business 2. The fledgling data science /analytics team as well as the engineering teams are treated like trash by the entitled "Business" teams read - product & marketing. These are for all practical purposes clueless egomaniacs defending their ivory towers and milking a great product developed decades back. 3. Extremely high turnover rate - if you are in one of these minion teams doing most of the meaningful work surviving 1 year in this mess will be like winning an olympic gold medal. Working on meaningless death march projects and rubbish ideas of the "business" stakeholders will be your job day in day out. Surviving one fire drill after another is the order of business here and you will feel a high adrenaline rush every moment thinking - "gosh I survived this trainwreck" 4. Great place to learn politics - should you choose the path of least resistance you better become a stooge/henchman of one of the insecure directors in the company and ensure your job safety. 5. High burn out rates - Frequent reorgs and manager changes are the hallmark of this company. I had 6 different managers in my first 6 months here and moved across 3 teams. Not counting countless meaningless projects I did.
