Pros

-Not a lot of supervision so no one knows who is working hard and who isn't -Management mostly works remotely, so there are often empty offices to use during meetings -Little to no incentive to work hard, so job requires little effort -Turnover is so high, your job is safe as long as you aren't truly terrible at it. Even then, it will be safe for months.

Cons

-CEO told everyone at a town hall meeting to stop posting reviews on glassdoor and talk to him directly instead -Executives exaggerated company profitability to increase their payouts during company sale. As a result, profit expectations not met and bonuses not being paid. -Small benefits that gave any bits of joy to working here were taken away as they were deemed wasteful. (Holiday gifts, promotions, weekly catered lunches, remote work, holiday party) -Labs are overcrowded and safety is not taken seriously. Its only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt. -Common for new hires in lower positions to make more than people above them with more experience. -During COVID, they protected employees by making management remote full time so their offices were empty while lab staff were still packed in like sardines. Management was worth protecting, everyone else was expendable. -Building is overcrowded. They ran out of lab benches but kept hiring people, having them share benches and work on top of each other instead. -You have to sign a 2 year non compete that prevents you from working just about anywhere your skills would be valuable. They have sued former employees and their new employers to enforce these. Like golden handcuffs without the gold. -There is little actual science being done, most work could be done by high school graduates -There is little communication between departments and between employees and management. New policies and procedures are regularly introduced and made mandatory, followed by a deluge of emails from around the company about why that policy or procedure is not going to work. Often it is implemented anyway making it even harder to get work done. -Promotions seem arbitrary. I know from experience that working incredibly hard and going the extra mile gets you nothing, but giving up and phoning it in gets you a promotion. -Desks are tiny unless you are in management. The work environment is crowded and very loud. They have a desk that has a building column in the middle of it. Its so bad its actually funny that they would put a desk there and ask someone to work there 40 hours a week. -People are regularly discouraged from discussing pay. Very likely many people are being criminally underpaid.
