Pros
Office building, west loop area, PTO, and benefits. Really nice co-workers but teams are segregated. Hard to get to know people from other teams.
Cons
I’ve worked at TMC longer than the recent acquired employees over the past 4 years but not as long as some of the dinosaurs most of us thought would be extinct by this point. We are a company that lacks the innovation and intelligence to create our own brand and values. Having someone from corporate present a new brand and values is a joke! Not only does majority of the leadership team NOT demonstrate values, we should acknowledge TMC has adopted the practices and values of Navistar a manufacturing company, including their over rated employees. I wonder if Navistar’s CEO would appreciate that he has a small satellite company located in the west loop? This group is isolated to themselves in a corner on the 4th floor. They are not required to follow policy, makes up their own rules and work hours, including the entire team having every Friday off. And if you’re a favorite – the leader will take you for an off-site meeting which is just an excuse to go to a local bar. Why isn’t the rest of the company offered these perks? Inspector Gadget continues to schedule “secret” confidential lunches and or invites you to his office to confidentially solicit feedback on what is or isn’t working well, only for your feedback to go on deaf ears. Every meeting provides you with the same feedback; there is lack of direction and alignment from leadership. There are six senior leaders and you never get the same response. Who is running this company - operations or customer relations? For those who haven’t been invited to a lunch or an office meeting – be careful, if you say the wrong thing, you will hear it from your manager and your career is basically ruined. The amount of time spent on projects is taking focus away from our customers. Do customers understand that their pricing includes 100 or more man hours working on projects that don’t apply to them? Perhaps we wouldn’t be losing our customers if we focused on providing the service they pay for. How about not wasting our time asking for feedback if you don’t plan to take action (smoke & mirrors)? If you are a candidate considering TMC as a place to work – do your homework! This is not a culture that embraces diversity or new people. Majority of work is redundant and if you aren’t considered a favorite of leadership, you will not move forward in your career. HR is not focused on employees and rarely hosts fun/social settings that allow employees to release. There is no training for new hires and they are thrown into the operation without an understanding of the systems which results in numerous mistakes and if you aren’t able to figure it out – you will be fired.
