Pros

A place where you can really learn if you are self motivated. Never had an issue using vacation days like at other places i have worked. Provides an opportunity with just a few years of experience, you will build enough experience to be actively recruited by others for significantly more pay.

Cons

Low pay, sub-par benefits when compared to other municipalities and electric utilities. Naperville has low pay scales for most professional and management non union positions and city council/manager refuses to acknowledge it, hence why employees are constantly being stolen. Just like another reviewer said, the good employees are actively being recruited by others firms and stolen (several by Com Ed, Winetka, GE, St Charles, the list goes on). There is no reason to stay when you are being offered 15% - 25% more by other companies to do the same job (the main reason why i left as you can only have so much loyalty when you are underpaid by so much).

The benefits are great and there are plenty of opportunities for growth with the City being so large. Overall, it's a wonderful place to build a career
