Pros
There are some good opportunities to learn new skills.
Cons
The leave policy is at Barghausen is ridiculous. They have a combined sick leave/PTO policy at the company and you get 8 hours total a month. For those who don’t know, Washington state requires employers to provide 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours works. If you work 40 hour weeks every year, you are entitled to 52 hours of Washington paid sick leave a year. If you work 50 hour weeks every week, you are entitled to 65 hours of Washington paid sick leave a year. At Barghausen, you are entitled to 96 hours of combined PTO/sick leave every year. This means you accrue PTO at a rate of 3.6 hours a month if you work 40 hour weeks and a rate of ~2.6 hours a month if you work 50 hour weeks. This policy is absolutely absurd and you can find better leave policies just about anywhere else. Management is a terrible, and HR will not step in even if you are being mistreated. Training is poor, and the work environment is very competitive. Supervisors can essentially treat you however they want and nothing will be done. If you end up on the wrong team with the wrong boss, this company will be a nightmare experience for you. Work-life balance is non-existent. Additionally, pay at Barghausen is not competitive when compared to other engineering firms. The health insurance is not great. You can do much better elsewhere.
