Pros

Have to type something in this field

Cons

Stayed for 4 months and then quit to maintain my sanity. They made me work several nights after a full day’s shift and once a 30hr inhumane, non-stop shift for a non critical issue, so the manager appeared good in the eyes of his superiors. The IT department and especially data center operations is a joke. These people need to be in the animal herding business instead of home building. They do not have a work life balance policy, even though Human Resources has it slapped on their intranet website. They will call you at home on the evenings and weekends for the most trivial issues and highjack your soul. If you have a family or if you value your time off, run away from DR Horton. This place is run by incompetent megalomaniacs who only have their bonus in mind, not your well being.

Pros

Large, established company with name recognition. Exposure to the homebuilding industry and opportunity to work with experienced teams.

Cons

Significant lack of clear expectations from the outset. The role was presented as a salaried role, flexible schedule (including work from home), during the hiring process and then upon accepting employment I was notified that the job was hourly with strict in the office presence required. Management was largely absent, especially during the first few months of employment. There was little to no onboarding support, limited communication, and minimal direct supervision. Expectations were not clearly defined, and guidance was often inconsistent or provided after the fact. Policies and boundaries were not clearly explained or documented, which created confusion around what was and was not permitted. Feedback was not provided in a timely or constructive manner, making it difficult to course-correct or align with leadership expectations. Overall, the environment lacked structure, clarity, and consistent leadership presence.
