Pros

I attended a recruitment fair for Fulton County Schools. I was very impressed with the changes they have made and intend to make. So I applied for the position. The application process was kind of long with a personality test and a data assessment. However, someone contacted me within a week to set up a phone interview. The phone interview lasted approx. 20 minutes. I was required to teach a lesson over the phone. It was awkward but not difficult. Immediately after the phone interview I was accepted into the teacher pool. I was then asked to interview via Skype. This interview lasted approx. 40 minutes. I was required to teach a lesson. I chose to teach factoring quadratic equations using the box method. After teaching the lesson I was asked questions such as, how did I handle a difficult situation with an administrator, what type of boss do I prefer working for, explain one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses, give an example of student academic success that you've experienced in your classroom and why are you interested in working for Fulton County Schools. Within two weeks I was offered a job for the upcoming school year. I accepted the offer.

Cons

Since I was interviewed and hired by central office and not a principal I don't have a placement as of yet. I traveled to Georgia to attend the Teacher Fair and interviewed with several schools. Because I didn't interview with the principals of those schools I was asked to interview again, this time with the principal. I have received several calls from different schools to interview. I actually have a couple of interviews set up for next week. Even though I have been hired by the district I still have to interview with each school or I can wait until central office assigns me a placement. Since I am relocating to Georgia I have to secure a placement so that I can acquire a place to live. The only issues I have are having to interview over and over again to find a placement or choose to wait until central office places me.
