Pros

- Management and colleagues are knowledgeable and respectful people who are always willing to help with all projects. - The "work hard, play hard" attitude is common here. We are always busy with work but management makes it a point to wind down at least once a month with a fun activity planned for all office staff. - The projects we have are usually interesting in nature and always different from the last. We are constantly learning. - Management encourages getting active in the A/E/C community and attending seminars and trainings. If you express interest in a specific training course or seminar, Gale will usually help provide funds to attend the training. - Gale will match a portion of your 401k contribution.

Cons

- The pay could be better. Compared with other engineering firms, as well as construction companies, the pay seems to be low. - Training for internal procedures is limited, i.e. there is no training or handbook on project management procedures such as invoicing, generating purchase orders, writing proposals, accounting processes, etc. This becomes confusing as you gradually morph into the project management role and have no previous understanding of the role. - There is no clear transition from "Engineer" to "Manager" and therefore, management styles are inconsistent. - Annual reviews are typically not annual, and sometimes only once every other or every three years.

Pros

Convenient location Social event (if you wanted

Cons

Pay is not competitive and benefits are expensive HR is not professional, fraternizes with employees and is openly negative towards former employees or those they do not like. I've heard HR openly talking about private things to current employees. Dishonest and clique-y. Leaving early without putting in hours/lying on timesheets. Promotions are rare, and tend to occur during times where multiple employees have already left

Gale Associates Response

Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback on Gale. We appreciate all feedback and use this information to improve upon our processes, benefits, and employee relations. Gale has been reviewing market and benchmarking data bi-annually to make sure we are paying employees within or above market standards. We have recently changed our structure to make sure our titles and pay are aligned and competitive within the market. Gale reviews all our benefit options annually and are always looking for ways to curb the costs of health care benefits for our employees. We understand that health care insurance is very important to our families and employees and therefore we are very pleased to have had the ability to absorb the cost of medical insurance premium increases for the past several years while not passing those onto the employee. Gale also takes pride in offering robust benefits, beyond healthcare services to each of our employees. Costs of some of these services are also partially absorbed by Gale or are voluntary to the employee. Gale is pleased to offer our employees flexibility with their work week including a hybrid work schedules and hours. We understand that the traditional 9-5 work week is not suitable for everyone all the time, so we offer employees more flexibility, within reason, during the work week. This includes implementing year-round hours this year, which allows employees to work more earlier in the week and take a half day on Fridays. We trust in our employees to manage their time and schedules and department managers to approve weekly timesheets. Regarding your comments on the HR Group, we take any allegations very seriously and as with any professional organization do not allow discussions of personal information with any other employee. Please reach out to Lynette Young, Director of Human Resources at lcy@gainc.com or Steven Marshall, Managing Principal at srm@gainc.com to discuss in further detail. Gale is proud to be able to offer social opportunities for our employees. We think it is important to be able to prioritize and offer an opportunity for our employees to unwind and interact with their team with a fun and social environment. These events are strictly voluntary, and employees are under no obligation to attend and in no cases has a promotion ever been withheld or awarded based on attendance at social events. They are voluntary and open to all that would like to attend. Our management team is always looking for ways to improve and any additional comments are appreciated. Thanks again for sharing your feedback.
