Interesting work and freedom to come and go depending on experiments. Very supportive of DEI. 99% of the people are friendly and helpful.
Cons
Work life can be a nightmare or wonderful depending on your PI. Talk to the staff and get honest feedback before joining a lab.
Some labs and departments are very siloed. They do not want to share their equipment or knowledge but have no qualms about using other labs' equipment or asking for help. Very frustrating.
