Pros
Caring for the residents and becoming their family. Very rewarding and humbling.
Cons
New administrator has no clinical background yet is making clinical decisions. Often appears annoyed by basic administrative responsibilities such as scheduling and required state paperwork/documentation. Is unavailable in emergency situations and places responsibility onto staff. Resident falls, illnesses and behaviours have increased since her starting and facility has had multiple state investigations. She lacks understanding in caring for those with dementia and is unaware of its challenges. Expects staff to be more task oriented rather than providing compassionate resident centered care. Does not respect employees. Never gives positive feedback to staff, only addresses the negative. Manipulates situations to her benefit throwing anyone under the bus in the process. She is burning out an excellent, hard working staff and creating an uncomfortable and unsecure environment for all.
