      Pros

      The students have a lot of enthusiasm.

      Cons

      Minimal resources, low pay relative to peer institutions, administration are a bunch of dictators, academic freedom is nil, workload is huge -- this goes back to the resources. Because the resources are so scarce, everything takes longer than it should. Worst mistake I ever made was coming here.

      Pros

      The people in the plant sciences are overall kind and amazing. There are exceptions, but the people love what they do and I feel lucky to be a part of the community.

      Cons

      MSU does not want to provide TAships to graduate students since we are more expensive than hiring a lecturer, which isn't great if you want to work at a PUI after your PhD. (It depends on the department.)
