Pros

Large Health System with maximum resources in reach. Reasonably decent place for front line workers. Great place for white males of any age. Great place for young white females.

Cons

It’s like a club house. Unconnected people can get to a director level. The executive, and regional level jobs are not for hard workers. They are reserved for those who are connected to the people at the top whether hard/smart workers or not. Friends and Family plan. Also they respond to government regulations on physician practice by buying the physician practices and putting all the cost on hospitals so the government goal of savings is never accomplished. Basically a bailout. Corporate strategy and the wealthy will always find a way to work around government regulations and keep the rich rich. Physicians are layered with titles and added pay associated with titles, as well as corporate cards and tax write-offs in order to keep them happy. Managers and administrators are not recognized for anything. Their work is often credited to the physicians to make the physicians feel valued. Decisions aren’t made with healthcare in mind. Finance is calling all the shots. Michael Dowling has values but is more of a spokesman now than anything else and the finance arm of the system is basically reducing the corporate values to the likes of the hotel industry.

Pros

Office setting; nice people, cafeteria

Cons

Overworked and severely underpaid, short staffed for the amount of patients they intake to the program (on the clinician side and administrative), very low pay for administrative workers, little to no real benefits (PTO is not front loaded but trickled in: 1 hour accumulated per pay period - it would take about 4 months to accumulate 1 full day of PTO. Sick time is a similar trickle system so you end up taking a lot of unpaid time until you can’t), due to that it’s impossible to not get burnt out. The union also hasn’t negotiated a good contract if these conditions exist for those at the basic level. Food in the cafeteria is not great and sometimes gives people the runs. Also it’s expensive (full price despite working for the org; they cannot even give discounts which is weird considering how much the CEO makes and how little we do). Feel abandoned and not properly compensated. Deeply exhausted.
